An opportunity has arisen to join the Exotics stream of Fixed Income Product Control within the Product Control and Complex Product Support area. Product Control ensures the integrity, completeness and accuracy of all trading, Profit and Loss (P&L) positions and related corporate data. They work closely with traders to understand their trading strategies and risks and help develop new products and support products tailored to client needs. Complex Product Support handles the operations activity for derivatives, commodities, structured products and fund-linked products. Complex Product Support management is aligned with Product Control to ensure the operational handling of these complex products supports the ability to correctly account for them.

The Exotics Product Control stream of Fixed Income Product Control is responsible for understanding and controlling the Exotic Interest Rate Derivatives OTC Trading businesses. This is done by independently substantiating the completeness, accuracy and validity of all business related corporate data that is used by Financial Control, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Collateral Management, Trading and Marketing. This includes the provision of completed daily Profit and Loss and critical control functions such as price testing and structured trade reviews. The team is located in both London and Singapore.

Position Description:

This position sits within the E-Single trade group which generates the majority of revenue by the Exotics desk. The position will report directly into the Head of Exotics Product Control sitting within an overall team of 35. The specific area to be managed by the successful candidate consists of 11 members including two direct reports. The team is run as a single entity co-located in London and Singapore. The candidate will have overall responsibility for managing the team across both locations. The candidate will be responsible for delivering the departments strategic vision within the Exotics Product Control team. This includes: Human Capital Management - recruiting, retaining and developing high quality staff, maintaining and improving the control environment within exotics, client service - building strong relationships with senior Front Office and Shared Services clients, implementation of strategic projects such as successfully implementing key risk management and P&L system enhancements, effecting structural change, application of SOX, USGAAP accounting standards and Basel II reporting requirements. In addition the area contains many of the most complex rate based derivatives traded by the bank. A strong understanding of valuation concepts and the risks generated by these derivative positions is required. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring correct Price Testing and Reserving processes are in place and continually working to refine and improve the validation framework.
