MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepare federal Forms 1120-RIC and 8613 and applicable state tax returns for Regulated investment Companies. Prepare annual book-to-tax adjustment analysis by examining the taxability of investment income/expenses, securities transactions, and complex derivatives including futures, options, and swaps. Prepare summaries of annual tax basis calculations relating to shareholder disclosures in financial statements. Assist in analyzing calendar year distribution requirements in order to prevent fund level excise taxes. Coordinate administrative deliverables relating to assigned clients to help streamline daily operations and gain client/auditor exposure. Update tax reporting calendar and client profiles to ensure that all applicable filing requirements are recognized and met, and open issues are properly documented. Assist in the documentation of tax policies and procedures. Undertake tax research and special projects as assigned. On-going self-study of tax resources to remain up-to-date with changing tax laws and current issues regarding Regulated Investment Companies and financial instruments.
Qualifications EDUCATION:BS in Accounting or Finance preferred EXPERIENCE:Over three years in the mutual funds industry with RIC tax compliance experience, preferred. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:Knowledge of general tax law, with emphasis on RIC tax preferred; Basic knowledge of accounting and financial services issues; Microsoft Office/PC proficiency, especially Excel; Strong time management skills; Strong organization and attention to detail; Good oral/written communication skills; Ability to adapt quickly to procedural changes; Ability to learn in classroom setting and hands-on environment.
