Product Control core responsibilities include production and reporting of P&L and balance sheet on a daily basis, together with all the relevant month-end requirements that accompany it. The Product Controller will be actively encouraged to develop close working relationships with the business and other key support teams such as Financial Control, Accounting Policy, Operations, Audit, Tax, Treasury, Technology and Risk.
Job Description: -ED/CB daily support to Tokyo trading desk -ED/CB Month-end/Quarterly Financial Reporting -Reserve validation process
P&L Reporting/Analysis -Detailed P&L decomposition including escalation of material unexplained variances -Providing explanations for significant P&L drivers e.g. market changes, new deals, book remarks, reserves etc -Complete new deal/EITF reviews for all significant trades -Complete daily reconciliation of estimates to actuals, and ensure that the reporting website is updated with explanations for all material differences -Completing month-end financial close, P&L and balance sheet -Inventory Valuation -Reserve tracking and verification, providing explanations for significant movements
Balance Sheet Reporting -Produce daily balance sheet estimates, ensure accurate and timely reporting including analytical review on significant movements and balances -Decomposition of Balance Sheet for the business, identifying opportunities to reduce adjusted assets -Completing month-end balance sheet reporting by internal deadlines, explaining variances between month-end daily estimate and month-end final -Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled -Ensure all reserve balances and valuation adjustments are reconciled and appropriately authorized
Control Standards -Sign off Control Standard templates that apply to relevant trading desks, identifying mitigating controls where standards have not been met and actions to improve standards where appropriate -Producing metrics to the business for processing efficiency on a regular basis
Operational Effectiveness -Leading role in driving team projects, including automation and process enhancement -Ensure all front to back breaks are understood, and escalated in accordance with standards -Ensuring a minimum of manual, stand alone processes are maintained -When tactically used, ensuring that a strategic solution is being sought -Accurate analysis and recording of operational loss events
New Product Development -Involvement in completion of NPR documentation for new businesses/products proposed by the trading desk, and the implementation of systems and process changes/improvements that may be required
