Our client, a world leading privately owned investment bank, is actively looking to recruit for the position of European Head of AML.
This is a stand alone position and will be based in Luxembourg. There will be travel involved with this role.
Job Description
The European Transfer Agency AML/KYC Manager will be responsible for the establishment of policies and procedures relating to the management and monitoring of AML/KYC activities within TA and Real Estate. The Transfer Agency AML/KYC Manager will be responsible for the setting of AML/KYC policy to be performed across all TA locations as part of the account opening and ongoing due diligence process.
In addition the candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with these policies and standards and will assist management and the firm in understanding AML/KYC from a TA perspective.
It is expected that the candidate will be the subject matter expert for the escalation of any issues that arise from account opening as well as ongoing due diligence processes. In addition, the role requires ongoing market analysis of Best Practices and benchmarking techniques to ensure that policy for TA is aligned to best market practice. This role is located in Luxembourg, however due to the European nature of the TA business there will be a requirement to travel from time to time.

Key Accountabilities
Establish effective compliance and anti money laundering policies, procedures, systems and controls.
Implement a risk based KYC approach and review schedule.
Prepare, implement and maintain an Anti Money Laundering and compliance manual for TA.
Monitor the TA Operations Group to ensure adherence with AML/KYC regulations and internal policies, procedures and controls.
Provide proactive and expert advice on regulatory developments and their impact on current operations/future projects.
Manage and develop the TA AML/KYC monitoring programme to ensure regulatory and legal compliance.
Provide training on regulatory issues to all staff.
Monitor, research, evaluate and interpret regulatory and industry trends to ensure procedures and controls are within industry standards.
Liaise with Compliance and Legal departments and senior management.
Work closely with the TA Risk Manager to perform targeted reviews of processes/workflows, identify weaknesses and assist in implementing suggested changes/improvements within the product.
Attend various committees, including project initiatives and provide AML/KYC compliance input from a TA perspective.
Other Responsibilities
Part of the TA Product Group Management Team.
Participate in the wider Group management of AML/KYC.
Participate in AML/KYC presentations to Line of Business oversight committee(s).
Coordinate regulatory requests as required.
Develop staff members through appropriate recruiting, training, performance management and succession planning.
Ensure that the management team is properly aligned with the division strategy, goals, and objectives and has the information and tools necessary to progress.
Knowledge & Experience
5 - 7 years experience in KYC compliance matters as a Quality Assurance Specialist and/or Anti-Money Laundering/Know Your Customer auditor/compliance officer or Client Executive.
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Accounting or Finance.
Working knowledge of European regulation for AML/KYC.
Exposure to translation of regulation to policy and procedure.
Ability to identify and escalate sensitive issues with discretion.
Ability to independently develop, analyze and recommend alternative solutions.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain relationships.
Understanding of transfer agency is advantageous.
Proven ability to communicate professionally during client visits, presentations, walkthroughs and other sales and client retention activities.
Ability to coordinate cross-office initiatives.
Ability to travel.
