Excellent opportunity to join a growing business area as a senior member of the European Fixed Income Compliance team with responsibility for provision of compliance advice and support to the Fixed Income Division; providing specific compliance advisory services to Commodities Sales, Trading and Structuring.
Day to day responsibilities: Interest Rates & Foreign Exchange Day to day compliance advice and support to Fixed Income Sales and Trading, with principal responsibility for the Commodities sales, structuring and trading teams. Duties • Compliance support and advice for covering client suitability, cross-border regulatory issues, client marketing, Chinese walls, transactions at non-market prices, new product reviews, and transactional reviews on a case by case basis. • Advice and review of marketing materials, valuations and term sheets relating to structured products, including selling restrictions, disclaimers, on-selling issues and licensing requirements. • Close liaison on a day to day basis with trading floor based Legal personnel working with the Commodities Sales and Trading desks including client reviews and ad-hoc transaction reviews as and when required. • Control/monitoring of Chinese wall & confidentiality policies and general conflicts management including liaison with Control Room in supporting the over-the-wall (“OTW”) process. • Training on general regulatory matters including FSA’s Code of Market Conduct, Conflicts, Chinese Walls and other ad hoc regulatory matters. • Research into new products and new businesses and assisting in ad hoc compliance projects. • Handling regulatory and internal queries and investigations, and client complaints. • Regulatory advice and support of the commodities business as it expands into new markets, exchanges etc. Expected background / Skills of candidate: The successful applicant is likely to be a university graduate (or professionally qualified) with approximately 4-6 years relevant compliance and/or legal business-line advisory experience working within a financial institution; ideally the candidate will hold a professional legal and/or accounting qualification; practical experience of meeting FSA rules and codes of best practice; understanding of and experience with relevant business lines and product scope; excellent interpersonal skills; solution-driven; confident; highly motivated and organised; team player, but able to operate under their own initiative.
