The business unit Trading and Portfolio Management is an active trader on all of Europe's energy markets and the number one trader of continental gas (TTF & Zeebrugge) and power (France, Holland, Belgium). By actively managing GDF SUEZ's positions in power, natural gas and other related energy products, they play a central role within the company by optimising GDF SUEZ's European portfolio. The Central Portfolio Management team develops and offers the most innovative products and services to our customers by combining physical delivery, transmission access and financial instruments to ensure that our customers get the cheapest energy prices. GDF-SUEZ Trading and Portfolio Management (TPM) is looking for a Modeler/Analyst in our Brussels office. The transparency and integration of European power markets have increased our need for top quality fundamental and market analysis over the relevant time horizon for trading and the active hedging of the portfolio of the group; typically one day up to a five years. In order to be effective, the Market Analysis output needs to be translated to fit the specific and practical needs of traders and portfolio managers. Mission As Market Analyst, you will have the following responsibilities : - Assist in building models and take responsibility in building and maintaining the practical tools and applications to be used in by traders and portfolio managers
- Initiate and maintain an active discussion on market related issues with portfolio managers, structurers, originators, traders and risk analysts to provide efficient and effective modelling and build the tools to best fit their specific needs
- Review external models and applications
Profile - You have a university degree in engineering, finance and or economics
- You have more than 3 years experience in modelling and building tools in a broad range of end user applications (UpData, Reuters, VBA, Excel,...)
- You have adequate IT skills. Excellent in VBA, Excel and Access
- You have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- You are able to find creative and pragmatic solutions
- You are fluent in English. Knowledge of any additional European language is an asset
- You enjoy working in a team
- You are able to thrive in a quickly changing and high-pressure environment in which priorities are constantly changing
